In 1849, the Society purchased the land the current fairgrounds is located on, creating its permanent home. The Society's goal in sponsoring the fair is to promote and preserve the regions agricultural heritage.
Haddam Neck Fair
The Haddam Neck Fair is one of Connecticut’s major agricultural fairs, run entirely by a dedicated all-volunteer team. It began in 1910 with a small event organized by the Haddam Neck Grange No. 177 in Bailey’s Field. In 1911, the Grange Agricultural Association purchased land on Quarry Hill Road and built the Grange Hall, which still serves as the heart of the fairgrounds today. Over time, the fair has grown from a two-day local gathering to a four-day celebration filled with attractions for all ages.

There's also live pro wrestling, a cornhole mini-golf tournament, chair lift rides, live music, raffles, games, and a toy drive to support children in need. The event combines festive fun with charitable giving, ensuring that each ticket helps benefit a local nonprofit cause.
Portland Fair
The Portland Agricultural Fair is a Connecticut tradition each October, celebrating local agriculture with livestock shows, tractor and truck pulls, antique displays, and family-friendly attractions. Visitors enjoy a petting zoo, pony rides, acrobatic acts, live animal shows, carnival rides, games, and classic fair food, all set to the sounds of local music in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Garlic & Harvest Festival
The Connecticut Garlic & Harvest Festival is a popular annual fall event held each October at the Bethlehem Fairgrounds. For over two decades, garlic lovers and families have enjoyed cooking demonstrations, garlic-growing talks, and live music. Visitors can browse specialty vendors with dips, oils, cheeses, spreads, and fresh produce, many offering free samples. The food court serves creative garlic-infused dishes like pizza, sliders, sausage with peppers, deep-fried garlic, and even garlic ice cream. Rides, games, and kids’ activities add to the fun, and the festival is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all.
Hebron Harvest Fair
The Hebron Harvest Fair is a four-day, family-friendly agricultural fair that's become one of Connecticut’s largest and most beloved. It began in 1971 as a small district fair at a local school, and in 1972, the Hebron Lions Club acquired 84 acres for a permanent fairgrounds location.
